Professional Fitting and Positioning Services Menu

Fitting For New Bicycle.

To buy a new bicycle for beginners or experienced road cyclists and triathletes. The New Bike Fitting will generate empiracle data through anatomical dimensions, measurements for range of motion and an extensive evaluation of your requirements to match you with the optimal new bicycle built and fitted specifically for you. This removes the guess work and amateur "research" from making a bike buying decision. There is no better process for selecting the optimal bicycle for performance, comfort and safety. You will obtain the best bike for your body dimensions and riding style. It is a proven, tested, and refined "Six Sigma" style process to optimize the bicycle purchasing/ownership experience for beginners and expereinced cyclists. Included in the Fitting for New Bicycle are:

  • 27+ Body Dimension Measurements using three measurement protocols.

  • Use of Serotta Size Cycle fitting bike to validate bike geometry, dimensions and position.

  • F.I.S.T. and N.E.C.A. Certified bike fitting techniques to optimize comfort and performance.

  • Tabulation of fitting statistics and frame dimensions/geometry using FitKit Pro Software Systems along with permanent storage of fit data in Bikesport, Inc. fit database.

  • Complete specific configuration of handlebar stem angle and length, handlebar and aerobar width, angle and dimensions, ergonomic positioning of controls (brakes and transmission), dimension specific crank length and chain rings, correct cassette combination, optimal saddle selection and positioning, correct seatpost adjustment and orientation.

  • Complete shoe fitting, pedal system selection, configuration of pedals and shoes, cleat alignment and angulation using wedge systems and rotational adjustment.

  • Tuning and adjustment of binding tension and instruction on safe operation of clipless, automatic safety style pedals.

  • Factory trained installation of cleats in compliance with manufacturer standards. Our Director of Fitting has been the technical representative for a top clipless pedal company and and configured pedals for two Tour de France winners, Olympic triathletes and cyclists, World Championship Triathletes and taught pedal configuration to other bicycle stores around the United States.

  • Real-time video evaluation of fit and position.

  • Complete written Barnett Bicycle Academy delivery checklist of finished bicycle including confirmation of torque specs and Bicycle Buyer Agreement with individual serial number.

  • Free complete re-fitting and evaluation for one year from date of purchase.

Cost: Free with purchase of new bike at Bikesport, Inc. or $250 for purchase of bicycle elsewhere. Upgrades and fit specific components add additional cost.

Refit of New Bike purchased at Bikesport, Inc.

This is a follow-up fitting to tune and improve the fit and position of your new bike from Bikesport. It is provided at no charge on your new bike 3-6 months after you have taken delivery up to one year following the purchase. This includes:

  • Consultation for effectiveness of original fit.

  • Evaluation and diagnosis of fit/positional improvements.

  • Changes in positioning and components required due to changes in conditioning.

  • Event specific positioning considerations and changes.

  • Additional improvements of fit and position to optimize comfort, performance and safety.

Cost: Refitting is for new bicycles purchased from us within one year. There is generally no charge for a refit at our discretion. Change of components, re-cabling and excess mechnical work will result in reasonable upcharges at our discretion.

Existing Fit for Road or Triathlon.

If you already own a road or triathlon bicycle but need to improve your comfort, position and performance this is the appropriate service. This is the service to purchase if you are uncomofrtable, have chronic saddle discomfort, are preparing for an event or have not been previously fitted to your bicycle. This process includes:

  • 27+ Body Dimension Measurements

  • F.I.S.T. and N.E.C.A. Certified bike fitting techniques to optimize comfort and performance.

  • Recording of fitting statistics and frame dimensions/geometry using FitKit Pro Software Systems along with permanent storage of fit data in Bikesport, Inc. fit database.

  • Complete evaluation and repositioning of handlebar/aerobar size and angle, stem angle and length, handlebar and aerobar width, angle and dimensions, ergonomic positioning of controls (brakes and transmission), dimension specific crank length and chain rings, correct cassette combination, optimal saddle selection and positioning, correct seatpost adjustment and orientation.

  • Real-time video evaluation of current fit and position and fit/position changes.

  • Evaluation of saddle height, fore/aft, rotational angle, saddle setback, crank length, reach, saddle to handlebar drop, aerobar posture, elbow pad width and aerobar/base bar angle.

  • Measurement of joint angles and alignment using laser and manual measuring apparatus.

  • Evaluation of Varis angle for pedal and shoe configuration.

  • Complete evaluation of pedal and shoe cleat position, binding tension, release safety, rotational adjustment and "Q" factor. Evaluation of shoe fit.

  • Replacement/installation/modification of bicycle components to optimize comfort and fit.

  • Saddle and seatpost evaluation, meausrement and modification.

Cost: Fitting is $250. Labor for installation of components and additional parts/components are additional. Total costs for Existing fits range from $350- $1000+ depending on parts and labor required.

Pedal System Configuration.

This is the service to purchase if you need your new pedal and shoe system set-up, installed and tested for safety and performance. This service is also optimal for first time clipless pedal users and includes training and familiarization on safe entry and escape from modern automatic clipless pedal systems. This includes:

  • Complete shoe fitting, pedal system selection, configuration of pedals and shoes, cleat alignment and angulation using wedge systems and rotational adjustment.

  • Tuning and adjustment of binding tension and instruction on safe operation of clipless, automatic safety style pedals.

  • Factory trained installation of cleats in compliance with manufacturer standards. Our Director of Fitting has been the technical representative for a top clipless pedal company and and configured pedals for two Tour de France winners, Olympic triathletes and cyclists, World Championship Triathletes and taught pedal configuration to other bicycle stores around the United States.

  • Explaination, demonstration and practical application in use of your pedal system.

  • Evaluation of Varis angle for pedal and shoe configuration and/or wedge compensation fitting.

  • Complete evaluation of pedal and shoe cleat position, binding tension, release safety, rotational adjustment and "Q" factor. Evaluation of shoe fit.

  • Testing of shoe/pedal interface, engagement and safe disengagement.

  • Use of appropriate factory recommended thread locking compounds, lubricants, hardware and torque settings in compliance with ppublished standards and recommendations to optimize comfort, performance and safety.

Cost: Pedal System Fitting is $40 + Parts.
