Eight years ago
Michael R. Rabe introduced use to the Racermate Computrainer.
Rabe brought an early Computrainer into the store and
we took turns riding it using his laptop computer.
This year we finished building a new Computrainer
Multirider System in our store.
What is it?
The Computrainer Multirider System uses your bike that
we place in a rear wheel mount Computrainer indoor trainer.
The Computrainer has a terrain simulation generation unit
that takes information from a computer to simulate the
same changes in riding resistance you experience on the
road when riding up and down hills. You are actually riding
up and hills indoors! The accuracy of the road feel is
uncanny.
On a large flat panel display in front of
you see the profile of the terrain you are riding on,
your current, average and maximum speed, heart rate, cadence,
power output in watts, elapsed time and time interval
to other riders using the system. You can even save rides
and ride against yourself from a previous performance.
The Computrainer makes indoor cycling fun,
interesting and social. You can have an easy, entertaining
ride while watching a DVD on one monitor while your ride
data is displayed on another display, or you can have
a challenging workout while riding with friends or alone.
With the Computrainer Multirider System
indoor training is never boring.
The Computrainer also enables us to perform
physiological and performance evaluation on cyclists to
help optimize your training. It is ideal for entry level
riders learning good pedaling technique, gear selection
and other skills that transfer directly to the road.
How do I use it?
Our Computrainer Multirider System is free
to use. Bring your bike, riding clothes and a towel and
we’ll set you up and show you how it works. You
can train alone, bring friends or join one of our daily
Computrainer sessions.
Currently the Computrainer is being ridden
everyday during normal store hours. If you’d like
to ride the Computrainer Multirider phone us at (313)
278-1350 and we’ll schedule a time for you. We’d
generally like 24 hours notice to schedule Computrainer
time.
Call us now! It’s free, it’s
fun and it will help maintain and build fitness and technique
for spring. We look forward to riding with you soon on
the virtual road!
