How
we Sell Triathlon and
Road Bikes at Bikesport, Inc.
Based
on 20 years experience selling road bikes,
and 18 years selling bikes specifically for
triathlons, we have developed a system for
selling road and triathlon bikes.
This system
insures the bike is correctly built using
components that will fit your body. Since
road and triathlon bikes are costly, it is a
worthwhile investment in time (both yours and
ours) to insure the bike fits and performs to
the best of their ability.
The benefit of
this system is:
Every road
and triathlon bike we sell is individually
configured to the customer.
This method is
particularly beneficial for beginners or
first time buyers.
This is how it
works:
Step
1. Make a fit Appointment.
Call our store
at (313) 278-1350 and schedule a fit
appointment with Ken ODay or Tom
Demerly.
At your fit
appointment we will interview you about the
reasons you are shopping for a new bike, how
you will use your new bike, what you dislike
and like about your old bike (if you have
one) and what your goals (if any) are.
Following the
interview phase we will evaluate your
position on your existing bike while mounted
on an indoor trainer. This will include
measuring joint angles and may include
photography of your position.
Finally, we
will take a set of measurements of your body
to determine the best frame fit and geometry
for you. This will include determining a bike
that is appropriate for your riding style. We
will also make calculations to determine your
best position on the bike, including:
Saddle height.
- Saddle
fore/aft position relative to the
bottom bracket.
- Saddle
angle and yaw.
- Reach
measurement.
- Handlebar/saddle
height differential.
Important: Please bring the
following to your fit appointment:
- Your
existing bike- even if you know it
doesnt fit correctly.
- Padded
cycling shorts.
- Your
shoes if you use clipless pedals.
- Please
leave small children at home.
- Allow 1-2
hours for fitting.
Step
2. Buying your Bike.
If you
purchase a bike during a fit appointment,
there is no charge for the fitting.
Purchasing a bike at this time makes sense
since we have all the resources at our
disposal to help you make a responsible
buying decision that you can be comfortable
with. Additionally, buying a bike during your
fit appointment will enable you to take
delivery on your bike sooner.
All
bicycles must be paid in full at time of
purchase.
Once we have
determined exactly the frame and components
you need we will complete an order form
detailing the specifications of your bike.
You will receive a copy of this order.
Step
3. Delivery.
Once your bike
has been completed and test ridden, we will
contact You to arrange for a fitting and
delivery. During the fitting and Delivery the
following will occur:
The bike will
be inspected by you and a builder to confirm
all specifications are correct. You will be
fitted on the bike while mounted on an indoor
trainer. You will receive a briefing on the
operation of key components.
Your bike will
be checklisted for final delivery. You will
be given a final receipt with serial number
and owners manual (if provided by
manufacturer), and sign the liability waiver.
