2008 Quintana Roo Lucero.

2008 Quintana Roo Lucero.

Quintana Roo Lucero.

When the Lucero was unveiled four years ago it was one of the most advanced triathlon bikes from any manufacturer. The new 2008 Quintana Roo Lucero continues that legacy with improved component spec and a hand made, carbon fiber aerodynamic frameset using the most advance ultra-high modulus carbon fiber for stiffness, durability and ride comfort.

The Lucero is the flagship of the Quintana Roo carbon fiber, aerodynamic fleet. The 2008 Lucero features fully internal cable routing for superior aerodynamics and mechanical dependability. The rear facing dropouts use dependable adjusting screws and the seatpost binder bolt is a dual-redundant design for additional security. This bike is fast and dependable.

Several features differentiate the Lucero from other “cookie cutter” carbon tri bikes: The unique airfoil shaped nose cone is a proven aero advantage. The seat tube extension provides low center of gravity and stack with plenty of stand-over for easy climbing even on steep, out-of-the-saddle efforts. Quintana Roo is the only company using their unique, proprietary airfoil shaped, carbon fiber wishbone seat stays that enhance aerodynamics while improving ride comfort. Add to these frame features the dependability of traditional brake mounting and convenience features like two water bottle mounts (on most frame sizes) and you have a well conceived, functional design from the company that invented the triathlon bike.

The Lucero has Quintana Roo’s innovative frame geometry designed for aerobars and the bike-to-run transition. This is the company that invented the triathlon bike back in 1987 and has more experience building and designing triathlon geometry than anyone else. With a low head tube on each frame size and a steep seat tube this geometry will optimize performances at all distances.

The stock parts kit from Q.R. is a well thought out component group that puts money where it needs to be. With a Shimano Dura-Ace ten speed rear derailleur and shifters combined with an Ultegra front derailleur and FSA SLK Carbon fiber crank the bike ready to race. This component package includes the Zipp designed Flashpoint 58 mm deep race wheel for added value. This is a true deep section, aerodynamic race wheel that has everyday durability. We are particularly impressed by the tire choice on the Flashpoints: QR chose the Continental Attack/Force tire combination with specific front/rear design tires that optimize durability with an extra ply in the rear tire while maintaining traction and aerodynamics by making the front tire slightly narrower than the rear.

The cockpit on the Lucero is our favorite, the Visiontech ski bend aero extension with wing shaped, aerodynamic Visiontech base bars and the Cane Creek 200TT aero brake lever that uses a return spring for better brake lever response.

Even the saddle on the Lucero is up-speced by Quintana Roo to the new Fizik Arione Tri 2 triathlon specific 30 cm long saddle.

The Lucero is a race proven design used by top professional triathletes around the world. It is one of few true race machines in the world ridden by the top pros that you can actually own and race yourself.

Shown in photos with Zipp wheelset and other optional component upspces. We build Luceros to all component specifications, call us at 1 800 720 BIKE (2453) for you specific build configuration.
